Mantle styling with reed diffusers

Having spent my early 20's studying the 'science' of Retail as part of my degree, the notion of Atmospherics is one that has stuck with me. How the senses play together to create the ultimate shopping experience. Lighting, display, branding, signposting, sounds, music, textures and scents.

How a space smells is often overlooked but is such an important factor to how you feel about a place. It made me so happy when customers would walk into my store and comment on how lovely it smelt. It made them feel comfortable enough to stay and browse but also to come back.

I feel the same way about creating that inviting scent at home. To open the front door after a long day and be greeted by a warm welcoming fragrance as you walk in does wonders in lifting the spirit. After I stopped making candles, I started searching for alternative ways to scent fill our small apartment. I came acoss the Aldi Home Fragrance range after looking for reed diffusers online. When I read these were almost identical in scent profile to the Jo Malone diffusers but at a fraction of the price, I had to give them a try.

The scents available include Lime Basil & Mandarin and my personal favourite Pomegranate. Since I discovered Ottolenghi's receipe for Harissa Roasted Carrots & Pomegranate Seeds last year, we've become a little obsessed with the fruit at home. The luxury diffusers come with 8 black rattan sticks and 100ml fragrance in a round glass container finished with black, white and gold labelling.

The smell is pretty much spot on to Pomegranate Noir so I feel the £3.99 price tag per reed diffuser set is such good value for money. We have a good sized sitting room leading off a tiny hallway so I positioned 2 diffusers here to allow the scent to travel and kept to just one in the bathroom which is enough to keep the scent lingering. Have you tried the range at Aldi? What are some of your favourite ways to fragrance your home?
