Happy New Year!
It’s been several months since my last post and with good reason. I started the blog shortly after finding out I was pregnant after our miscarriage in August 2018. A high risk pregnancy meant I was back and forth to hospital for several months finally giving birth to Ezra 5 weeks earlier than expected.
We are now settling into to new baby life and feel so blessed to have him.
It also means we’ve had to rejig our small space to accommodate all the paraphernalia that comes with a newborn. I got quite stressed and depressed during the last trimester trying to find a new home and move our family before giving birth but our list of requirements vs what we could afford meant it was a near impossible task. It worked perfectly when I had the boutique but our lives have changed since and our home needs to change with it. So for now, we will have to make some adjustments and sit tight until the time is right for us to move.
One of the biggest changes will be to turn our living space into a multi-functional living room / sleeping space and convert our bedroom into a kids bedroom / play room. Emelia is doing fantastically at school but needs space to do her homework, practise her cello as well as play dates and Ezra will soon out grow his mini crib and be mobile.
Whilst our apartment is small, the living space is of a decent proportion so with some clever space solutions, we should be able to create a home that works for our family. I’ve been hugely inspired by other small space dwellers on Instagram so I’m excited to evolve our space. Another change, whilst not urgent, is to redo our kitchen. It’s tiny and functional but could be streamlined further to integrate appliances and create more counter space needed for a family of 4.
As it isn’t a priority, it’ll be a DIY project with any components we can recycle or reuse. Storing things as we come across them will be our biggest struggle but where there is a will there is a way!
We won’t start anything until Ezra is a few months older and we have recouped a bit more sleep. For now, it’s great to get back to the blog and start sharing our ideas with you.
What interior projects are you hoping to start this year?
